Attendance and Fees

  • 44 Meetings are scheduled over 12 months:  40 Private Lessons, 2 Group Studio Classes and 2 Studio Recitals available to each student.
  • Missed Lessons:  Up to 4 misses a year are included in the tuition and may not be rescheduled.  Students may reschedule lessons when more than 48-hours-notice is given.  Additional reschedule days may be available throughout the year in the event of family emergencies, school and sporting events at Dr. Rua’s discretion.  Spring Breaks and family vacations are factored into the schedule and may not be rescheduled.
  • Practice: daily practice is vital to a successful piano experience.  Practice is measured by outcome; therefore there is no time limit.  Each student should practice each week until the goal is reached.  Goal oriented practice is more effective.  Each week a list of achievable goals should be clearly outlined by the student in consultation with the instructor.
  • Cancellations: enrolling for lessons is a purchase of teacher and studio time, the student should prepare in advance to be free from interruptions and distractions.  A cancellation notice of 48 hours is expected when scheduled conflicts occur to school and sport events, vacations or personal holidays. Sufficient notice may allow you to reschedule your lesson, but rescheduling is not guaranteed.  Any lessons canceled by Dr. Rua will be rescheduled as needed over the course of the year.
  • Weather Policy:  if the studio closes due to inclement weather, you will receive an email and text from Dr. Rua.
  • Termination:  It is expected that a student will complete the yearly lessons scheduled in which he or she enrolled.  I require 30 days advance notice if a student plans to stop taking lessons.  Upon notification, tuition is due for the following month.
  • Dismissal:  A student may be dismissed if he/she: does not attend lessons, does not prepare for lessons, presents behavior or attitude problems, or does not pay tuition or other expenses.
  • A year contract is required, due the day of your first lesson and renewed every August for each year.  Similarly, CMA requires a yearly registration form, which is due each September (only for CMA students)

  • You are responsible for the purchase of the material: Piano scores, method book(s), music sheet if needed, music staff notebook if needed, metronome or application (recommended), pencil, eraser. Material varies according to the student level and needs.  I could order material upon private request.
  • Please keep your piano in good working condition (all keys and pedals working, etc.) and have it tuned at least once a year. If you don’t have an acoustic piano, please consider buying one.
